How does it work? This foam moulded underlay combines the benefits of traditional foam underlay with the excellent finished 'look' of hand ballasting. Each roll of pre ballasted underlay has real stone chippings glued to all visible area. You simply push the underlay and track together and set onto your layout board - within minutes you can have large stretches of your track 'ballasted' without any problem of mess and permanently glued structures. The foam is used in electrical insulations and carries a 10 year guarantee as well as being resistant to many oils and chemicals. Installing the Underlay Installation is simple, open a roll of underlay and slide across your up turned palm, lift the track above the underlay and push the underlay up into the track. For points and crossings we recommend cutting the underlay roll in half and using either side to match the outside edge of point work and then a suitably cut foam sheet between the roll to fill in the gap. Then simply apply extra stone chipping onto the foam and glue in place. For other structures use the foam sheets cut to shape and glue extra ballast onto them. Track can be secured into the underlay using small spots of white PVA glue - duplicate the small spots on the underside of the underlay to fix it to your baseboard.
