Revell Classics - Limited Edition
The Revell Classics Line is a limited re-issue of select model kits from the 1950s/60s or 70s. In order to ensure that this model kit resembles the original product as closely as possible, the packaging was made true-to-style using the previous original illustration as well as original decals. The construction manual in multiple languages contains detailed assembly instructions. This model kit was produced using the original mold that was manufactured more than 30 or 40 years ago. Insignificant deviations from the original model kit (formation of burrs or slightly imperfect fit) can be attributed to the fact that the mold was not used for a long period of time. After the Second World War, this former US Navy hospital ship received the name S.S. Hope, financed by US industry and private donors. Her main mission was to provide emergency medical treatment in crisis and disaster areas throughout the world. In addition training was given to medical and auxiliary personnel. Among other places, she travelled to Jakarta and Saigon. The 15,000 ton ship had three operating theatres, quarantine areas, X-ray facilities, a pharmacy and training rooms. The S.S. Hope had a so-called "Iron Cow" for producing milk from milk powder. Normally she carried on board 100 doctors and 150 auxiliary medical personnel. The S.S. Hope was retired from service in 1974.
